October is to a Photographer, what April is to an Accountant...
That was a funny (and truthful) saying I heard recently and it is very true! I've been keeping very busy with 2-3 sessions every week, which is just about the maximum I can safely handle right now. I just topped 650 'likes' on my Facebook page too! Things 'round these parts are mighty brisk and I enjoy being busy. I consider it a blessing especially considering every day there are more and more people picking up a camera and deciding to go into business for themselves.
While I may not be the most flashy (or pricey) and have the fanciest equipment out there, I am proud that I have been in business (and survived!) a year and improved considerably during that time. I still have a lot to learn, but that is the beauty of it. I make time every day to research, learn new techniques, network with other businesses and photographers in my area. I also make time to give back to my community, because that's why I'm here in the first place. Thank you to all of you who have supported me from the very beginning!
Last weekend I had the honor of being the sole photographer at St. Johnsbury Academy for Resident Parent's Weekend. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet some bright young people and their families and capture a memorial weekend for them. Next week I look forward to providing some images for a local preschool for their advertisement fliers. And at the end of November, I look forward to once again donating my time and talent to Barnet Public Library to help them raise money for books and children's programs.
